Winning isn’t everything…

Thu November 17, 2005

I’m somewhat excited that Australia has finally made it into the World Cup Soccer Finals!!! [If you don't know what I'm talking about read about it here...] You may be unaware that in my previous life soccer came before everything. It was all I cared about and definately came before following Jesus. I’m thankful to God that he has changed me and helped me to turn from the idol of soccer to trust in Jesus. Yesterday at Terrigal High School lunchtime group we were reminded of what will last into eternity:

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:8 [niv]

Be encouraged to invest in the things that will last.

TREK: Jesus… better than Moses

Mon November 14, 2005

Download the latest TREK Bible Reading notes from here and this Sunday mornings Bible Study from here. TREK notes & Bible studies are found each week in the downloads section of TOOLS.

One of the things that we’ve seen in Hebrews is how Jesus is better… this week we are going to see how much better he is than Moses.

Have you seen the shoes???

Wed November 9, 2005

Over the last week I have noticed no less than 7 sets of shoes that have been flung up onto powerlines around Erina. My guess is that it’s the latest craze of Erina High students. The shoe shops at Erina Fair are loving all these teenagers having to come in and buy new shoes!! Have you seen the shoes???

[Disclaimer: Kids... Don't try this at home]

////Year 6 – We’d love to see year 6s come up to Triple F over the next two weeks. We hope that this will help them in their transition into Triple F for next year. For more info download the invitation from tools.

The Motor Mission

“Nathan Brown and Julian Price have begun an epic journey by motor bike which will take them from India to England, crossing some of the world’s most desolate and dangerous territory along the way. The point? Encouraging Christians doing it tough for God.”

Ferdie Flores

Tue November 1, 2005

The following quote is off a website about a missionary named Ferdie Flores. An sms has been spreading around like wild fire suggesting that he was about to be executed… it’s false and below is the official statement from the website. By all means continue to pray for this man and his family as they seek to proclaim Jesus in a hostile environment in East Timor.

“The information you have received is not correct. That information has been going all over the Philippines and even to the States the last couple of days. Actually Ferdie and his family have experienced quite a bit of persecution recently instigated by the Roman Catholic Church. Several threats have been made by priests, but there has not been any physical harm done to Ferdie as of yet. Although last week a mob of about 250 people did surround Ferdie with stones, sticks, and machetes, but the Lord intervened and the crowd was dispersed without incident. As of now things are calm, but could erupt at any time. Ferdie has requested much prayer. But, he was never arrested and was never scheduled for execution as was reported. Hopefully this will clear things up for you. Thank you for writing.”
