Better than the Simpsons

Thu July 26, 2007

2 big movies came out today. 1 of them I don’t need to tell you about: The Simpsons – you probably already know about it. The other you may not have heard of: Amazing Grace.

Amazing Grace is a movie about William Wilberforce and the abolition of slavery in the British Empire in the 18th Century.

William Wilberforce is a man who understood the gospel of Jesus. Wilberforce was inspired by John Newton. Newton was once a slave-trader – but when he became a Christian – he renounced his old life and began to publicly speak against slavery.

John Newton is best known for the most famous Christian Hymn – AMAZING GRACE. Check out the Trailer above, read more about Wilberforce from John Piper here, and go and check out the movie. Take a friend to watch it and chat about Jesus afterwards.
