Partners

We believe that first and foremost the responsibility of bringing up children is that of the parent. We don’t want to take over from you, but rather partner with you during your child’s teenage years. Therefore we’re keen for you to know what we do, how this will help you raise your teenagers and some ways you might help us in doing that.

CCECYOUTH purpose statement:

We exist to GLORIFY God in everything as we: GATHER to hear His Word; GROW in godliness; GIVE in service of others; share the GOSPEL of Jesus’ death & resurrection; and GLADLY rejoice in Him.

Above is the ccecyouth purpose statement. Our primary purpose is to GLORIFY God and the other G’s are five ways in which we do it. Below we will go through each of the 5 G’s and how we can partner together in them.

1. GLORIFY

  • As leaders we seek to glorify God in every area of our lives. This is CCECYOUTH’s overarching purpose as we desire to see God honoured. All of our programs and relationships are geared towards bringing Glory to God.
  • Our part: We will seek to teach & model this to your teenagers.
  • Your part: Be someone who likewise lives for God’s glory; Seek to set a godly example in your life; and Encourage the glory of God as something to be valued.

2. GATHER

  • We are a people who gather around the word of God. This primarily happens at our Friday night program [also happens in our G-TEAMS].
  • Our part: We will seek to put on a Friday night program that is welcoming, outsider-friendly, enjoyable, and one where the Word of God is taught clearly & faithfully.
  • Your part: Attend church regularly yourself; and Encourage your teenager to be regular at youth group irrespective of whether it is ‘popular’ at that time or not.

3. GROW

  • We want teenagers to love and serve Jesus all their life! So we have set up a discipling ministry where they will see personally what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus. These are called G-TEAMS and we have them for each year group [year 7-9 meet on Sunday morning & year 10-12 meet at various times during the week].
  • Our part: Under God we will seek to help your teenager grow to know & love Jesus; and We will seek to connect them also with each other.
  • Your part: Encourage them to attend G-TEAMS; Encourage reading of ‘TREK’ (youth Bible reading notes); and Take an interest in what they are learning.

4. GIVE

  • The youth ministry seeks to serve others as Jesus first served us and encourage an attitude of servant heartedness. This is encouraged in all spheres of life.
  • Our part: We hope that we can model selflessness; and We will give opportunities & encourage teenagers to serve. We also run a quarterly training program (CORE).
  • Your part: Encourage your teenager to be other person centred, to give! Seek also to encourage other families as they raise teenagers.

5. GOSPEL

  • We hope that out of the rich relationship that the youth have with Jesus they will seek to tell others about Jesus.
  • Our part: Each youth activity is great to bring a friend to. But some nights will be specifically designed for their friends to clearly hear the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
  • Your part: Encourage your teenager to not be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ; and Say ‘Hi’ to another parent when you pick up your teenager.
